Pearl Weave Microfiber Applicator Pads for Ceramic Coatings (2-Pack) — APPLICATOR-MINI
The APPLICATOR-MINI is a small-format pearl weave microfiber applicator pad with a sponge core, designed specifically for ceramic coating application. Built using the same closed-loop pearl weave as our PEARL towel — the industry-standard surface for coating work. Sold in packs of 2.
Built for ceramic coating, nothing more
This is a specialist tool. Ceramic coating application has real consequences when you use the wrong applicator — too plush and you absorb half the product into the pad, too smooth and the coating beads and runs, wrong material and the coating cures unevenly. The APPLICATOR-MINI was built for one job and does it well: deliver a thin, even layer of ceramic coating across paint, glass, headlights, rims, and trim, without wasting expensive product.
Why pearl weave matters here
The pearl weave surface gives you three things at once that most applicator pads miss:
- Controlled product release — the closed-loop weave keeps coating near the surface instead of soaking it deep into the sponge core. Apply 5–10 drops, spread evenly, repeat — less product waste, more consistent application
- Even coating coverage — the low-pile pearl surface lays coating in a uniform thin layer with no streaks or pooling, even on darker paints where mistakes show immediately
- Sponge core for grip and pressure — soft enough to follow contoured panels (mirror caps, window pillars, body lines) without skipping, firm enough that you can apply consistent pressure across the whole stroke
In coating work, the applicator matters as much as the coating itself. The right surface gives predictable application, easier leveling, and less wasted product.
Where it fits in your kit
- Ceramic coating application — the hero use. Paint, glass, headlights, rims, trim — anywhere a coating goes
- Trim and plastic coating application — same precision, same controlled release
- Sealant and polymer application — works equally well for sealants that need thin even coverage
- Coating application on tight surfaces — small format means you can actually reach into edges and corners that a full-size applicator skips
The full ceramic coating workflow
If you're doing your own coating job, the proper kit is three tools, not one:
- APPLICATOR-MINI for laying the coating onto the panel evenly
- A short flash time (per the coating manufacturer's spec — usually 30–60 seconds depending on temperature and product)
- PEARL towel for leveling and lifting the residue cleanly
- For final wipe and inspection, a plusher towel like the long-pile side of the DUAL TERRY or PLUSH-380.
Same pearl weave surface from APPLICATOR-MINI to PEARL towel means consistent product handling across the whole job. No guesswork about whether one tool will react differently than another to the coating you're using.
Where it doesn't fit your kit
- Polish or compound application — applicator pads for polish work need different fiber structure. The pearl weave is built for coating, not abrasive polish systems
- Wax application — soft foam applicators handle wax better; the pearl weave is over-engineered for that job
- Interior dressing application — for interior plastic and leather dressings, foam or terry applicators are more appropriate
- General cleaning — this is application-only. For cleaning, use the appropriate towel (ALL PURPOSE TERRY or LIGHT TERRY)
How to use it
Apply 5–10 drops of coating to the pad surface (follow your coating manufacturer's recommended dose). Distribute across one panel using straight overlapping strokes — not circles. Work in sections small enough that the coating doesn't cure before you can level it (typically half a hood, one door panel, etc., depending on temperature). After the flash time, switch to your PEARL towel for the leveling pass. Use a fresh applicator pad once the surface begins to harden or the pad starts feeling grabby — that's why we sell them in packs.
Single-use or reusable?
This is the question every coating applicator buyer asks. The honest answer: most coating chemists recommend single-use per coating job. Cured coating residue in the pad fibers can cause inconsistent application on the next job — the coating you applied last time may transfer or interfere with the new coating's chemistry. For mission-critical work (paint correction + coating jobs charged to clients), use fresh pads.
For practice, multi-step coating systems where the same coating is applied repeatedly, or non-paint applications (trim, plastic, etc.), you can wash and reuse — soak in microfiber detergent immediately after use, before the coating cures, then wash with the same care as a coating towel.
Care instructions
If reusing: drop pads into a bucket of microfiber detergent (or APC) immediately after the job, before the coating has time to cure. Wash within 24 hours, separately from cotton, with microfiber-specific detergent. Never bleach or fabric softener. Air dry only — heat can damage the sponge core.
If single-use: dispose of after the coating job. Fresh applicators give the most consistent coating performance.
